When I was 12 years old, my Dad gave me his old Canon AE-1 35mm SLR camera. Since then, the cultivation of this craft has ensued through a mixture of course and self-guided education, as well as, practice, intuition, and a basic trust in a natural-born "eye". This section features several series and projects very near and dear to my heart. All work is shot with a documentary aesthetic and procedure. Whether it's accordian players on the street in Amsterdam or dragonflies in secret lagoons, photographs ring with a tinge of storytelling from the subject itself.

 

Some series are more ethnographically based, where the visual narrative aims to provide an intimate experience with a story that tends to sit some where in the margins of mainstream conversation. My many series show the complex and yet, beautiful intersections between race, gender, class, and sexuality. Though difficult to openly discuss at times, these are sites of our greatest growth as humans and are more than just identities, but inform how we experience the world around us.

 

From flora and fauna to landscapes of people and places, I am forever grateful to live through the lens. Gentle observation has allowed me to stand fully present in moments that would otherwise be fleeting.
